Meet Us

Change Who Waits helps find homes for children in Virginia’s foster care system who have been abused or neglected and helps them find an adoptive forever family. CWW uses professional photographers and videographers to give these kids a face and a voice to connect them with potential families.

Change Who Waits was launched in September of 2011 by Chris Barras. Chris is a pastor in the Richmond area with a passion to see kids in Virginia find forever families.

Chris Barras

Chris Barras is founder and Director of Change Who Waits. He launched it in 2011 as an organization that would work with the state in order to get kids placed in forever families.

In addition to being an advocate for foster care/adoption, Chris is church planter and Lead Pastor of the Area 10 Faith Community that meets in the historic Byrd Theatre in RIchmond, VA. (www.area10church.com) When he is not working with these different organizations, he spends time with his wife Abby and their three sons. You can probably find Chris at Little League, Upward Football, Soccer, or Boy Scouts with his boys.

Chris loves Virginia and all the great outdoors opportunities it offers. Chris is a big fan of the NFL (Tampa Bay Buccaneers!), and enjoys soccer, golf, and music.

Chris has been working with foster care and adoption agencies for the last 4 years and was a given an award from Governor McDonnell for his efforts to recruit parents to become adoptive/foster parents.

Chris and Abby do short term foster care in their home and are also open to longer term placements or adoptive placements.
